INDIVIDUAL YOGA / YOGA THERAPY

I offer private yoga instruction for those who are new to the practice (or just returning) and may need some individual guidance before joining a group practice.  I also offer private Yoga Therapy for people who desire an individualized practice(s) to accommodate unique health conditions (i.e.  scoliosis, arthritis,  fibromyalgia, balance impairments,  chronic conditions, MS, Parkinson’s, etc). CHAIR YOGA

This yoga class focuses on releasing tension and connecting with your breath while gaining ease of movement. Practice will include mindful seated and standing postures and movements with use of chair, strap and blocks.


HATHA YOGA

This class is for you if you are interested in a down to earth practice which can improve your flexibility, increase your strength and ease of motion, nourish your joints, improve your posture, enhance your balance, help you breathe more deeply and efficiently, focus more clearly and feel more relaxed and centered.


YOGA FOR CANCER SURVIVORS

TEMPORARILY ON HOLD
Research shows that yoga can reduce the side effects of cancer and its treatments, but cancer survivors and patients need specific support. This yoga4cancer (y4c) class is a specialized yoga method tailored to address specific physical & emotional needs left by cancer & cancer treatments. This unique approach matches breath and movement to stimulate the immune system, improve flexibility & strength, reduce anxiety and boost overall well-being. This class requires informational intake discussion before joining.


YOGA FOR PEOPLE WITH PARKINSON’S

This class utilizes functionally based movement experiences in seated and standing and selected yoga postures and breathing exercises to address the early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Experience the joy of movement while learning ways to negotiate the specific challenges Parkinson’s disease can pose.

HAPPY POSTURE / HEALTHY BONES SERIES

UPCOMING DATES AND LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED
In this series, each class is designed for menopausal or post menopausal women concerned about bone density loss. This series will include an educational component and mindful movements (including selected yoga postures) to safely strengthen muscles, build bone and improve posture and balance.

JOURNEY OF THE JOINTS

This class explores the benefits & healing potential of movement. Flowing from a series developed at the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, we exercise different parts of the body in a gentle way, to bring muscles and joints that have been “forgotten” over the years back into our awareness. Muscles that may have weakened will be gently strengthened so that the body can be held in a harmonious & natural position. Posture is improved so that energy may flow again while circulation is increased to different parts of the body. These yogic exercises are neither complex nor difficult and can be done seated and/or standing.

This Ayurvedic daily routine encourages us to incorporate simple practices and moment to moment choices that can be easily implemented over time to cultivate a happier, healthier life.
